Singing
I started singing with the Sweet Adelines Dunedin Chorus, singing baritone. Decided I loved acapella singing. I then joined Sunnyside Up, Dunedin’s black gospel choir, and sang with both groups until I left Dunedin. I had a year of singing lessons in Dunedin with Maureen.
For many years I attended workshops with Tony Backhouse, a truly inspired Black Gospel teacher who runs workshops around the country, around Australia, and now further afield as well.
After I moved to Wellington I sang with B’acapella for a while, before joining with 3 others to form a black gospel quartet, Black Cat’s Whiskers. We sang together for about 4 years. Naked Voice was a duo with Marion — singing acappella for a couple of years.
